The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international men’s football championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022. This will be the first World Cup held in Asia since 2002, when co-hosts South Korea and Japan hosted the tournament. In this blog post, we will take a look at three Argentina players who performed well and two who underperformed against Venezuela in a recent friendly match. We will also provide our thoughts on what this means for the team heading into the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Lionel Messi

In the group stage match against Iceland, Lionel Messi was one of three Argentina players who performed well. He had a hand in all three of Argentina’s goals, scoring the first and assisting on the other two. Messi was also impressive in Argentina’s second match against Croatia, although he didn’t score or assist on any goals. Two Underperformed Against…

However, in Argentina’s final group stage match against Nigeria, Messi was one of two players who underperformed. He failed to make an impact on the game and was replaced in the second half. As a result, Argentina were eliminated from the World Cup in the group stage for the first time since 2002.

Sergio Aguero

Argentine striker Sergio Aguero had a great game against Iceland, scoring a beautiful goal in the first half to give his side the lead. He was a constant threat throughout the match and was unlucky not to score more goals.

Icelandic defender Sigurdsson did well to keep Aguero quiet in the second half and prevented him from adding to his tally.

Aguero was named man of the match for his performance and deservedly so. He is one of Argentina’s best players and will be key to their chances of success at this World Cup.

Paulo Dybala

In the match against Iceland, Paulo Dybala was one of Argentina’s best players. He was constantly threatening the Icelandic defense with his dribbling and movement, and he created several chances for his teammates. He also took Argentina’s only shot on target in the first half. However, he was not as effective in the second half, and he was replaced by Gonzalo Higuaín in the 66th minute.

2. Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi had a mixed performance against Iceland. He was very quiet in the first half and didn’t have much impact on the game. However, he came to life in the second half and scored Argentina’s only goal with a beautiful strike from outside the box. He also set up Sergio Agüero’s chance that was saved by Hannes Halldórsson. Overall, it was a good performance from Messi, but he will need to be more consistent if Argentina are to go far in this tournament.

3. Sergio Agüero

Sergio Agüero had a frustrating evening against Iceland. He missed a sitter early on that would have given Argentina an early lead, and he was generally wasteful in front of goal throughout the game. However, he did set up Lionel Messi’s goal with a clever pass, and he had a few other decent moments in the game. Overall, it wasn’t Agüero’s best performance, but he will still be important for Argentina going forward.

Gonzalo Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain is one of the three Argentina players who performed well against Iceland. He was clinical in front of goal, scoring a hat-trick to help his team to a 4-3 win. This was a much needed confidence boost for Higuain, who had been criticized for his lack of goals in recent months.

It was not just Higuain’s goals that were impressive, but also his all-round performance. He worked hard defensively, tracking back to help out his team-mates, and was a constant threat going forward. His movement off the ball caused problems for the Iceland defence all afternoon, and he took his goals well.

This was a great performance from Gonzalo Higuain, and he will be vital to Argentina’s chances of success at this World Cup.

Lucas Biglia

Lucas Biglia was one of Argentina’s best players in their opening match against Iceland. He was constantly involved in the game, both in attack and defense. He made some key tackles and interceptions, and also created several chances for his teammates. His only downside was that he didn’t manage to score any goals himself, but overall he had a very good game.

Biglia will need to continue performing at this high level if Argentina are to have any chance of success at the World Cup.
